Herno
Herno is an Italian outerwear house founded in 1948 in Lesa, on the shore of Lake Maggiore.
Herno was founded in 1948 in Lesa, Piedmont, by Giuseppe Marenzi and his wife Alessandra Diana. The company takes its name from the Erno river, which flows through the town. It began with raincoats and has specialised in outerwear ever since. Herno Spa is still owned by the Marenzi family, led today by Claudio Marenzi.

Read the piece,
not the name.
With a second-hand Herno coat, start with the composition label: the share of wool, cashmere or other fibre decides warmth and drape more than the name does. Then check the lining at the armholes, the shoulder seams and the buttonholes, and compare flat measurements with a coat that already fits you, since a label size alone is not enough for vintage. Our Cashmere Story explains what good cloth feels like in the hand.
